The Licking County Computer Society (LCCS) was founded in 1985 as the  Newark Area Computer Club and incorporated in 1988 as a non-profit organization. The purpose was to bring together local personal computer enthusiasts to further computer education and understanding. We meet in a congenial atmosphere where users of personal computers may exchange ideas and information on existing hardware and software.

Our general meetings, which are held on the third Tuesday each month, feature speakers who are computer industry representatives and/or knowledgeable enthusiasts. The general public is cordially invited. Can't come to the meeting personally? Installation of Teamspeak Client Audio Conferencing For LCCS. This is the instruction to install and operate the teamspeak audio conferencing program on your PC for use with the LCCS main meetings.

In addition to the general meeting, special interest groups also meet monthly to provide mutual assistance in resolving software/hardware problems and to discuss new developments. Members frequently help each other on an informal basis.

Our membership ranges from novices to experienced computer experts. Novices are especially encouraged to join our group. Another benefit is the quarterly newsletter which contains reviews and other informative articles written by members.

LCCS has three important ongoing projects:  Computer Refurbishing, Computer Recycling Events, and  the LCCS/LCAP Teaching Program.  These volunteer activities are always looking for more members to help out.  See the Projects page for details and contacts.

The Licking County Computer Society recently decided to take an active part in the needs of our community.  During this period of economic needs, the local food banks are being used heavily and they are having a hard time keeping their shelves stocked.  So, beginning in May, the society decided that it would give it's portion of their monthly 50-50 drawing to a local food bank.  This year LCCS will donate their monthly share to the Johnstown Food Bank.  Along with that, LCCS President Kemp O'Dell presented Chuck Moore, of the Food Pantry Network of Licking County, a check for $500 to help with the summer demands where an increase in need is expected due to schools being not in session.

In addition to the monthly cash donations to the Johnstown Food Bank, LCCS will also begin collecting canned and dry goods that will also be donated to the Johnstown Food Bank.  A box will be kept at Zerger Hall and anyone is invited to drop off items during any LCCS function (usually Tuesday evenings) and especially at our 3rd Tuesday General Meeting.
